Barbary lion resting in the shade of a tree

Description: The majestic Barbary lion, also known as Panthera leo Leo, relaxes in the shaded area of a tree. This fascinating animal was once native to North Africa, particularly the Atlas Mountains, and has been extinct in the wild since 1910. However, there are still a few specimens of this impressive big cat found in zoos and with private individuals. The breeding efforts of the Barbary lion have been successful, although the current lions found in various locations, such as zoos and breeding centers, are no longer purebred.
