Majestic African Elephant Found Water

Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the largest land animal in the world. This majestic specimen has just found water and is drinking peacefully. Elephants are fascinating creatures that impress with both their size and intelligence. There are two subspecies of African Elephants, the savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana africana) and the forest elephant (Loxodonta africana cyclotis). The savanna elephant lives in the dry forests and savannas of Africa, reaching a shoulder height of nearly three meters and a weight of up to 7.5 tons. Habitat loss and ivory trade have greatly diminished the African Elephant population. Since the international ban on ivory trade in 1989, the protection of these impressive animals is of utmost importance.
