Description: The Barbary lion, also known as Panthera leo leo, was an impressive specimen of its kind. These majestic animals once roamed the Atlas Mountains of North Africa before becoming extinct in the wild in 1910. Nowadays, Barbary lions can only be found in captivity, such as in zoos and specialized breeding centers. Despite successful breeding programs, purebred Barbary lions have become rare. Their magnificent mane and powerful presence make them fascinating creatures that captivate both scientists and nature enthusiasts.
