Description: The Barbary Lion (Panthera leo leo) was a majestic creature that once roamed the Atlas Mountains of North Africa. This fascinating specimen with its impressive mane now resides in captivity at the Hoedspruit Research & Breeding Centre in South Africa. Despite the species being extinct in the wild since 1910, there are still a few Barbary Lions existing in zoos and breeding centers.
