Description: The Barbary Lion Panthera leo leo, known for its particularly large mane, used to inhabit North Africa, specifically the Atlas Mountains. Since 1910, this lion species has been extinct in the wild. However, a few specimens still exist in zoos and with private individuals. Through successful breeding programs, there are now Barbary Lions that are not purebred and can be found in places like zoos and breeding centers.
